Estimator / Project Coordinator

Position Summary
Reporting to the Project Manager, the Estimator / Project Coordinator will support both the estimating and project execution functions of the business. You'll prepare competitive estimates, coordinate awarded projects, communicate with clients and suppliers, and help ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.
This role offers excellent exposure to all phases of commercial construction and is ideal for someone looking to grow into a Project Manager or Senior Estimator role.

Key Responsibilities
Estimating
• Review architectural and construction drawings, specifications, and tender documents.
• Perform quantity take-offs for drywall, steel stud framing, insulation, ceilings, and related scopes.
• Obtain pricing from suppliers and subcontractors.
• Prepare accurate labour, material, equipment, and subcontract estimates.
• Assist with preparing competitive tender submissions.
• Maintain estimating records and historical cost databases.
• Participate in project handoff meetings after contract award.
Project Coordination
• Support Project Managers throughout all phases of construction.
• Coordinate procurement of materials and equipment.
• Schedule deliveries and subcontractor activities.
• Track project budgets, RFIs, change orders, submittals, and closeout documentation.
• Maintain organized project files and documentation.
• Communicate with clients, consultants, vendors, and field staff.
• Monitor project schedules and proactively identify potential issues.
• Assist with project reporting and cost tracking.
• Ensure projects meet quality and safety standards.

Qualifications
• Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architectural Technology, Quantity Surveying, Engineering Technology, or a related discipline.
• Drywall industry experience is preferred but not required.
• At least 3-5 years of experience in commercial construction is considered an asset.
• Candidates with both Canadian and international construction experience are encouraged to apply.
• Ability to read construction drawings and specifications.
• Experience performing quantity take-offs.
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
• Experience using ERP or construction management software is preferred but not required.
• Experience with estimating software such as Bluebeam, PlanSwift, On-Screen Takeoff, or similar is considered an asset.

Compensation & Benefits
• Competitive salary of $65,000-$90,000, based on experience.
